Experiements With Font Styles

The purpose for the questionnaire was to see how fonts influence the audiences mind to give the indication of the type of film.

The font styles mzy have an effect on any films give the indication of the type of genre to the audience. The font styles in films show the conventions. For example in a children’s film the font types used would have to be a child like writting or a happy style font.

To test to see if the fonts had any effect on the

audience I sent out a questionnaires with boxes to tick to all ages. I sent out 10 questionnaires to all ages from 5 to 38, both genders to see if the results are different by age or gender.

For the questionnaires there was 6 fonts to see and there was two under the category as child font, 2 under the category of thriller and 2 under the category of Film Noir. As some of the ages may not understand what these are I put in brackets what they are in simple terms. Film Noir was described as old black and white films, thrillers as scary films and children's as cartoon films with examples. To keep the questionnaries interesting I put some pictures on to illustrate and look more appealing.

There are genres on the site that I used. One of them were Thriller's, one was gothetic, one was Graffetti and the others were ones that were already on the site.

In the questionnaires, there was a paper attachment that stated Any Extra Comments?
There was only one comment. The comments were for how the fonts effected the persecption of the audiece. The comment stated "The questionnaire was useful to test how the mind works in the judgement of the film being watched. The titles created different feelings and emotions in my mind therefore creating a stereotypical view of the film before giving the film a chance. The fonts used gave me an insite to my own mind and how my mind can be influenced."
